Since I was into bringing out the essence of people, why not animals? Chiquita is very close to home so she was easily my choice of subject. Here I tried to simplify my lines, finding the right proportions and size relationships to get that appealing look.
I
drew out several thumbnails sketches, trying different poses. It's so easy to
get carried away when you try to put in as much personality in a character. I
settled for a static pose since this was just an exercise for simplifying
shapes. Orthographic views for this will need more time to do. I used
Illustrator to produce the vector image.
