The
challenge here is on Composition. The subject I chose was Dexter. Evers since I was introduced to the show, I
was hooked ever since. I am not very
well versed in the art of caricaturing but I gave it a go anyway. My initial study
was done on paper and the rough sketch provided a good foundation for the
painting.
Since
this was a personal project, I had taken many liberties to what I wanted to add
or change. The newspaper for one, I changed from Miami Star to Manila Star.
Much of the copy you see on the cover reflect what topics I was interested in
and issues that were prevailing in Manila at that time. The price you see is in
Philippine Pesos, the average price a mainstream magazine with a fairly high distribution
and readership would actually cost.
This is the reference I used. It was this look he had that I tried to capture and push in my magazine cover.
