STONE TURTLE

Had another "art attack"  just recently. My nephew found a couple of stones and asked if I could paint them for him. This stone looked very much like a turtle's shell. It was a matter of bringing out the turtle with some acrylics! I didn't paint three turtles. This is just a photo comp of all three angles. Fun to do! I asked him to name it. He came up with several names until he settled for one that he was quite pleased with. He named it after me.

PARTY TIME!

This is a flyer I helped develop and design for my nephew's 5th birthday party. He loves super heroes so much that he dressed up as Captain America! I was more than happy to do this for him. First off, I didn't paint the characters. They were from a reference my sister found on the internet. However, I worked with it and made the heads "bigger" showing some foreshortening to create a stronger impact of the heroes rushing towards the viewer. (Or to his 5th birthday party!) I used several other images from the internet and a reference of comic book covers to create this piece. I also downloaded the Avengers font to complete the look. The images and text were then tweaked and adjusted to look like they are all part of a cohesive whole. Last minute details were added such as the images and text on the corners of the flyer.

MONSTER STONES

I had some fun looking for odd-shaped pebbles and acrylics. When inspiration hits you, express it before it leaves you...and then give it away!

GIRRFOPOTAMUS

Scientists have just discovered this animal that diverged in evolution.

 The Girrfopotamus

It is a semi-aquatic sociable creature. It's excellent eyesight helps it locate it's favorite food, low hanging Acacia leaves (when standing upright) or it's second best, Savannah grass (when lying down). It's barrel-like body secretes oil that prevents it's delicate skin from sun-burn and where it can't reach to scratch or clean, it's buddy bird the red-billed Oxpecker is there to lend a helping beak...(Actually, my nephew Thijs asked me to draw him some animals and I asked him to name two.)
